Trinisha Erwin Aksa
Writer and Director
Trinisha Erwin Aksa is a writer and director born in Makassar, Indonesia and raised in Jakarta. She is currently based in Los Angeles and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Filmmaking from the New York Film Academy. Her passion lies in crafting emotionally resonant narratives that give voice to those who struggle to articulate their inner worlds. Her work spans short films and collaborative projects, unified by a strong emphasis on emotional truth and an empathetic lens.
Trinisha's love for storytelling began at the age of seven, when she picked up her first camera—a small Sony camcorder she still owns today. She spent her childhood capturing anything and everything, from daily routines to milestone moments like her first snowfall or her first trip abroad. Though she spent many years performing in theater and dance, she eventually discovered that her creative strengths were behind the scenes, building stories and cinematic worlds from her imagination.
Growing up in Jakarta, Trinisha was surrounded by people from a wide range of cultures, religions, and economic backgrounds. Though their lives looked vastly different, she noticed a common thread in the emotions they carried—love, grief, shame, joy. These quietly human experiences became the foundation of her storytelling. Her films often take these intimate feelings and magnify them into character-driven narratives that explore the tension between personal longing and social expectation. As she continues to grow as a filmmaker, Trinisha remains committed to championing Southeast Asian perspectives and telling stories that invite reflection while feeling both personal and universal.
